We have some exciting announcements in this week’s edition of the newsletter. We will discuss the Academy of Podcasters Hall of Fame nominations being open, let you know how to nominate your favorite podcast legends, and reveal big news regarding this year’s Hall of Fame Ceremony!
Podcasters Hall of Fame
The Academy of Podcasters Hall of Fame was started in 2015 to honor those who paved the way for podcasters, and the podcast industry, of today. Since then, we’ve inducted nearly 20 individuals into the hall, and 2018 we will continue this tradition.
We asked 2016 Hall of Fame inductee Mignon Fogarty (aka. Grammar Girl) to share her thoughts on what being inducted into the Hall of Fame meant to her.

HOF Nominations are Open Now
You, the podcast community, play a meaningful role in who will be inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame class of 2018. We invite you to nominate your picks for this year’s class, who must all meet a short set of criteria. Anyone who is eligible for nomination must:
- Have been involved with podcasting for at least 10 years, either as a podcaster or an active member of the podcast industry.
- Have promoted the art of podcasting over those 10 years.
- Done things to make podcasting better off because of their contributions and involvement.
- Be thought of highly by their podcasting peers.

Once the nominations occur, every nominee will be evaluated during a selection process made up of existing Hall of Famers. The top nominees will then be announced as the 2018 Class of the Podcasters Hall of Fame, and be inducted this July at our Hall of Fame Ceremony.
Podcast Hall of Fame to be honored in their own ceremony this summer
We are pleased to announce that this year, the Academy of Podcasters Hall of Fame Ceremony will occur as its own celebration, separate from the awards show. The Hall of Fame class will be acknowledged at the awards show on July 24, but the actual inductions will happen Monday evening, July 23 at 7pm during a formal ceremony.
This invite-only ceremony will welcome all inductees with their guests, as well as all past inductees, with a limited number of tickets available to the public.
This new, exciting format allows the inductees the proper time to honor their moment. We are thrilled with this evolution, and look forward to celebrating the Hall of Fame inductees on Monday night, and the Award recipients on Tuesday night, through this new approach!

- Just breaking this morning: Spreaker and BlogTalkRadio acquired by Voxnest to create an all new podcast company. Not much is known right now, but check out Voxnest’s site for the latest!
- Whether you’re already deep into the world of podcasts or new to the medium, here are a list of female fronted podcast that you should be listening to (according to Melissa Girimonte from the Gate).
- Apple’s Podcast Analytics feature finally became available last month, and podcasters everywhere—breathed a sigh of relief. Though it’s still early days, the numbers podcasters are seeing are highly encouraging. Miranda Katz shares why podcast listeners really are the holy grail advertisers hoped they’d be.
